Hi and welcome to my blog! As a viewer and a potential learner, I would like to formally introduce myself!

I am currently an educator at a DOE school on Oahu and am currently going into my tenth year of teaching. In the past few years, I transitioned to being the librarian at my school and am loving it! I really enjoy when a student finds a book they love and it sparks their interest in reading. But, as we all know, libraries are so much more than books and I have been slowly incorporating makerspace and other activities and challenges into the library to meet the needs of my middle school students.
I grew up in Connecticut and attended Providence College, where I earned my BA in history and secondary education. I really love traveling, reading, and Thai food. When I am not pursuing my Master's degree at UH Manoa, you can find me on the beach with a good book or hiking all over the island.
Hi Caroline!
It's so nice to meet you. I'm a huge fan of libraries! Fun fact, I actually won a library award in middle school, haha. I was always checking out the latest science fiction and adventure books and got to know the librarians so well!
Looking forward to reading your entries this semester!
Priscilla
Hi Caroline!
I loved visiting your blog both for the information and the visual appeal, its very inviting.
After reading your intro page I'll have to do some more digging into makerspaces and the general reactions to them, they seem like a great way to keep student creativity in action and give everybody a place to unwind while also staying proactive!
As a librarian and book lover, do you have any recommendations?
Look forward to visiting you blog as it expands!

Hi Caroline!
Love the bitmoji! Great to see you in this class as well! We survived our first year!
That's interesting that you mentioned makerspaces since this is something my new principal is wanting to do with some of the areas on our campus. She believes that all rooms need to have 'purpose' and not just be a space for students to sit and do work but to also collaborate, move around, explore, and design. I would definitely like to pick your brain on how your school is designing these eduspaces.
You have a favorite thai restaurant?
Again, great to be working with you again in this course!
Aloha,
Cleve
Hi Caroline,
Nice to meet you! I appreciate the simplicity and design of your blog, as others have already commented. It looks great (and is making me wonder if I should've chosen a platform other than WordPress).
Thanks for sharing the information about Sora. I had no idea about this app, but I think it's super helpful. Has it been available for teachers for a while, or has it come as a response to the pandemic?
I think it's great that you've been incorporating a makerspace into your library. What kinds of opportunities and resources do you provide for students? I visited a public makerspace in Arizona over the summer that was really cool; they had transformed a former Gap…
Hi Caroline,
I'm glad you use the word 'library'. At the College of Micronesia its called the 'Learning Resources Center', which I find a bit long and pretentious.
Good to see you again!
