Peergrade... Where peers provide feedback (Tool Time 5)

Writer's picture: Caroline LanglaisCaroline Langlais

Peergrade is an online tool that allows students to provide written feedback to their classmates on written work. Students submit their work by the teacher determined time and Peergrade automatically sends out the samples to be reviewed by peers. All feedback is anonymous, which eliminates any anxiety of fear a student may have. Teachers can track students' progress and comments. Teachers can also share feedback as well.

Hi, Caroline. Thanks for sharing your review of Peergrade.

Reflect – I learned that Peergrade is a tool for facilitating peer feedback. You provided many resources to give us a sense of how this tool works (although you mentioned that you couldn’t create an example since you didn’t have any students to simulate this).

Inquire – You may not know the answer to this, but is there a way for students to do a self-evaluation or self-rating so that teachers can compare this to the ratings that peers give? This seems like it would be quite insightful.

Suggest – This is in line with what you’ve already mentioned, but I think students would need a lot of support and training…

Kaselehlie Caroline,

Reflect - What did you learn?

I learned that Peergrade is basically platform that can be used for providing feedbacks among students. I can see how educators can compare their own gradings with students.

Inquire - What do you want to know more about?

Would you recommend this tool to a specific grade level(s) or to all grade levels?

Suggest - What ideas or connections might improve the current iteration?

My only suggestion would be to include the most optimal subject(s) this tool can be used for.

Elevate - How can future iterations be taken to the next level?

Maybe finding a way to allow students to provide feedback in real time can help promote student connectedness and…

Hi Caroline,

Wow! I love this application! I never knew something like this existed...definitely something I want to learn more about. Thank you for sharing!

Reflect:

I saw Peergrade as an effective tool for students to review each other's work. I found this application to be handy not only for students but for teachers as well. Students can receive and provide feedback to their peers anonymously. Teachers can then get a snapshot of how students are doing by the feedback they provide for their classmates.

Inquiry:

Do you know of any schools in Hawaii that currently use this tool? How did you find it?

Suggest:

I think having this tool would work nicely with this class, mainly to provide our…
